Name: Diana Zarins
Title: HR Generalist
Hi everyone. It’s time to showcase another member of the Kahiki Krew. Today we’ll meet Diana Zarins, HR generalist here at Kahiki. What does that mean exactly? At Kahiki Foods, Diana is involved in all aspects of HR like recruitment, training, benefits, safety, employee relations, and wellness. As she says, she does a little bit of everything.
When asked about the favorite part of her job at Kahiki, Diana said this: “We have a lot of opportunities at Kahiki to get involved in aspects of the company that someone at a large organization normally wouldn’t get a chance to participate in. We have various teams and groups in safety, special projects, and all aspects of the operation of our business. The best part of my day is learning or trying something new, and a lot of that comes from participating in groups outside the normal job function.”
When not at Kahiki, Diana enjoys baking, camping, reading, traveling, running, and spending time with her family.
Speaking of family, Diana’s family is from Latvia and as a college graduation present, she was able to travel there to experience the culture and meet family members. She said, “It was amazing to see a place I’ve always heard about growing up, to visit the city where my dad was born, to walk my mom’s family’s land and to meet members of my family for the very first time.” Her family here in the states continues to celebrate their family heritage with cultural events, traditions and holidays.
Diana learned Spanish as a second language during high school and college and while in college, studied abroad in Pamplona, Spain for a quarter. During her time abroad, she was able to travel throughout Spain and other European countries.
